
Henry Leonard Rhodes is AR’s Student of the Month for November! Henry is the son of Ruth Rhodes and Lathrop Leonard. In his free time, Henry enjoys 3D modeling, listening to audiobooks, and cooking. To date, Henry has earned 16 college credits and is on pace to complete 37 by the end of the spring semester. After graduating from Academy of the Redwoods, Henry plans to attend a four-year university, hopefully, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or a University of California campus, to pursue a major in mechanical engineering. Henry hopes to work as an engineer in the future and is keeping doors open for himself as he is not certain of the context in which he would like to work in the future. Of his time at Academy of the Redwoods, Henry says, “AR has been a great opportunity for me to make connections with people I never would have been able to otherwise.”

Hello AR! Minority Priority will be celebrating Día De Los Muertos by putting up an ofrenda in the Main Office! We would be delighted to exhibit any deceased loved ones as well as any offerings they would have enjoyed during their time here. Please use the accompanying Google Form to attach an image that you would want to see on the ofrenda and we will print it for you. There will be a box in the office where you may turn in any actual offerings or photos that you have already printed. We will be accepting offerings from 10/18 to 10/25.

Academy Award Winner - Luis Zapet-Lucier
Luis is our Academy Award winner this week for being "Ready to Rock" in Algebra. Congratulations, Luis! Keep up the great work.

Adeline Esh was honored as one of Soroptimist of Humboldt Bay's Girls of the Month for October this morning at the Eureka Women's Club.
Soroptimist of Humboldt Bay has been a service club of professional women for more than 30 years. They started the Girls of the Month award to honor young women who are a bright spot in our community. This may be through academic achievement or service to others.

First community meeting of the 24/25 school year was a huge success! Thank you to all that participated and to REBAR for hosting. Sky and Tanayah did a great job!

The 14th Street parking lot at Fortuna High School will be closed tomorrow, Friday, September 13th, because of Homecoming Activities. Students will still depart from the 14th Street parking lot in the morning. Parents should drop off their students on K Street, where they can walk in to board the bus. Students will be dropped off in the afternoon at the main parking lot on 12th Street at Fortuna High School. Parents can pick up their students at that location.


AR Biology students complete their first inquiry lab! Students designed and completed their own microbiology experiment testing the quantity of bacteria found on common locations around campus.

The AR Biology class takes their first field trip to the Humboldt Botanical Gardens for nature observation journaling. As students at AR, all students get into the botanical gardens for free! Here's your friendly reminder to go enjoy the flowers this fall.









The North Coast College & Career Expo is Tuesday, September 24 at College of the Redwoods. From 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, talk one-on-one with over 60 college and career representatives. With 10 workshops to choose from, tours of the CR campus, live music, a food truck, and more! There is something for everyone! This event is for all high school students: Freshman through Seniors. Lachlan Lewis is AR’s Student of the Month for September! Lachlan is the son of Shelby and Gordon Lewis. In his free time, Lachlan enjoys writing and listening to music. To date, Lachlan has earned 33 college credits and is on pace to complete 54 by the end of the spring semester. After graduating from Academy of the Redwoods, Lachlan plans to attend a college in either Southern California or on the East Coast to pursue a major in political science. One day, Lachlan hopes to work in politics and he is interested in working on political campaigns or possibly running for political office. Of his time at Academy of the Redwoods, Lachlan says, “My experience at AR has been wonderful and I've met many amazing people here.”


Picture Day - 8/23: Instead of traditional picture packets, parents/guardians will be emailed digital images of their students to print independently.
All first year students except Biology will need to report to the office at 8:30 a.m. to get their picture taken. Second year students will need to go to the office at 9:30 (2nd period) to get their pictures taken. Third and fourth year students will need to go to the office at 10:30 (3rd period) to get their pictures taken. The rest of the Friday schedule will not be affected.
