Since November 1988, state law has required schools that receive state funding to prepare and share a School Accountability Report Card (SARC). This report card is designed to give parents and caregivers important information about each school. It allows them to make meaningful comparisons between public schools, helping them make informed decisions about where to enroll their children.

It can serve as an effective tool for schools to showcase their achievements and progress toward their goals. By reviewing the SARC, families can better understand the strengths and areas for improvement of different schools.

The SARC contains the following information:

  • Demographic data

  • School safety and climate for learning information

  • Academic data

  • School completion rates

  • Class sizes

  • Teacher and staff information

  • Curriculum and instruction descriptions

  • Postsecondary preparation information

  • Fiscal and expenditure data
